Xiaomi’s first VR headset could be unveiled on August 1

Xiaomi VR

After launching its first Windows notebook recently, Xiaomi is now planning to enter the VR market with its very first virtual reality headset. The company has published a few teasers for the device on its Weibo account and also come up with a dedicated Weibo page with the username @XiaomiVR.

While no specific details are available yet, the teaser image seems to reveal a design that looks strikingly similar to Samsung’s Gear VR. Rumors also suggest that Xiaomi will offer a good amount of content along with the headset, for users to have a fantastic VR experience.

A number of major tech giants have joined the VR fray, so for a growing company like Xiaomi, it does make sense to expand to VR. In the coming months, we expect to see a number of other companies join the VR bandwagon as well, which would mean greater choice for the consumer and more content to enjoy in virtual reality.
