The Redmi 3 is priced stunningly low at roughly $106.
Xiaomi has announced the third major iteration in its affordable Redmi lineup of smartphones. The Redmi 3 will be available in China starting tomorrow for RMB 699 (roughly $105) for what is extremely impressive hardware, including a giant battery, metal body, and the new Snapdragon 616 CPU.
The Redmi 3 features a 5-inch 720p display, octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, a hybrid dual SIM slot, and a 4,100 mAh battery with fast charging support. The phone is powered by Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 interface on top.
The Redmi 3 has a unique design with “4166 stars woven together to reflect a gorgeous arrangement of diamonds.” It’s impressive, all in all, how much Xiaomi is offering for the price, though it’s likely to increase a bit when the Redmi 3 launches in other markets.
