Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime pops up online on Amazon India

The Redmi 2 Prime seems to be the international version of the Redmi 2 with 2GB of RAM sold in China.

The Redmi 2 was launched early this year in a couple of Asian markets including China, but consumers in the world’s most populous country were later treated to an upgraded model that wasn’t made available elsewhere. This version was also called the Redmi 2 but doubled the 1GB of RAM and the 8GB of internal storage at the same price.

Now, it seems the upgraded variant is going to make its way to other markets as the Redmi 2 Prime. The Redmi 2 Prime briefly appeared on Amazon India before its listing was taken down, with the specs exactly the same as the Chinese Redmi 2. It’s possible the device will only be made available in India, a market where Xiaomi’s seen a lot of success with both its Redmi and Mi lineups. A price tag wasn’t listed by Amazon, but if the Redmi 2 Prime does go official in the near future, it’s very likely the phone will be priced the same as the original Redmi 2.
