Xbox 2 Hardware Details

The announcement of "Xenon", the next generation hardware
platform design for Xbox 2 should take place on June 2nd where the gaming
console could be released in the fall of 2005. Xbox 2 would use the next
generation 64-bit IBM processor with multicore capability. As shown in the above
diagram, it has 3 cores running at a clock speed of 3.5Ghz+ with 64KB L1 and 1MB
L2 cache. Microsoft will be using ATI graphics core which is clocked at 500+Mhz
with over 10MB of EDRAM (enhanced dynamic random access memory). Apparently Xbox
2 will still be equipped with hard drives of 20-80GB capacity instead of flash
memories.
