Wooden Moto X release still on, Moto Maker customization tool launching with Sprint November 11

It looks like the Moto G launch and Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the Moto X, Droid Maxx, Ultra and Mini are not the only neat little surprises Motorola has in store for its fans ahead of the holiday season.

The Google-owned company is apparently putting the finishes touches on the wooden variants of the Moto X as we speak, as well as preparing to roll out Moto Maker to other American carriers aside from AT&T.

Too little, too late? Perhaps, but it’s not like wood options for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3, LG’s Nexus 5 or any other competing devices are looming on the horizon. Or the kind of customization Moto Maker offers, for that matter.

Besides, you can score the X nowadays through Moto Maker for a measly $100 with AT&T pacts (compared to 200 bucks not long ago), so maybe the same price tag will be valid for the customizable 4.7-incher once it becomes available with Verizon and Sprint pacts.

By the by, be sure to mark November 11 in your calendars as D-Day on Sprint, as per an internal doc leaked to the press by the folks over at Android Central. Big Red was in the recent past believed to get the bad boy around the same date, but in lack of further confirmation be sure to treat the info with caution.

Wood Moto X

Meanwhile, everyone’s wary of hinting at a possible ETA for the woody Moto X, including @evleaks. Oh, well, at least the most reliable tipster in the mobile business has it on good authority the wood-backed handheld is still coming and shall go on sale for a $50 premium.

That’s valid for all four distinct build materials, namely Teak, Ebony, Rosewood and Bamboo, albeit the last one is seemingly delayed even more than its siblings and thus unlikely to land in time for Thanksgiving. Be that as it may, the holidays are shaping up to be merrier than ever.
