Windows 10 Mobile update rollout now underway for older devices

Microsoft has finally started rolling out the much awaited Windows 10 Mobile update to select Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

The update is now available for the Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501. A few devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program haven’t figured in the final list as Microsoft says it these devices wouldn’t be able to successfully upgrade without impacting on the customer experience.

In order to download the Windows 10 Mobile update, it is recommended that you get the Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade Advisor app installed on your device. After the app is installed on your phone, you can open it and check for the update. If the app says your device is “Ready to upgrade”, you can head to the Settings app and then tap on “Phone Update” to get the update downloaded. You can then proceed to install the update on your phone.
