Windows 10 Mobile update “not ready yet”, rollout delayed until next month

Windows 10 Mobile

According to a VentureBeat report, Microsoft has delayed the Windows 10 Mobile update rollout for older Windows Phone 8 smartphones by a month.

Microsoft has reportedly sent out an email to its partners about the rescheduling. The update is now expected to be begin rolling out in early to mid-February. That applies to both the service update for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, as well as the Windows 10 Mobile update for legacy handsets currently running on Windows Phone 8/8.1.

The reason behind that delay hasn’t been clearly mentioned, but it looks like Microsoft feels the update isn’t completely “ready” for rollout just yet. On the plus side, older Windows Phone 8/8.1 handsets will now be updated to the latest build of Windows Mobile 10, which also includes the February service update that would also be seeded to the Lumia 950 and 950 XL flagship handsets.

While you wait to receive the update on your Lumia, you can download an app from the app store to easily check if your device is eligible for the Windows 10 update.
