Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has released a new teaser on Weibo, confirming a dual selfie camera setup for its upcoming X9 and X9 Plus flagship smartphones. While we have seen a number of smartphones with a rear dual camera setup lately, smartphones with a dual camera setup on the front are still relatively rare.
The primary sensor will reportedly offer 20MP resolution while the second sensor will be an 8MP unit. With such an impressive setup on the front, the upcoming X9 and X9 Plus could very well turn out to be the ultimate selfie smartphones of the year. Vivo flagships have always been targeted at selfie lovers, so we’re not surprised that the company is the first to go with a sophisticated dual camera setup on the front.
The Vivo X9 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 653 octa-core chipset under the hood, paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It could also feature a metal unibody design, a USB Type-C connector, and a fingerprint scanner embedded inside the physical home button on the front. That is sadly all we know about the X9 at this point.
Both the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus will be announced on November 17th at an event in China. As we head closer to the announcement date, we do expect more leaks to keep pouring in.
