Updated Google Maps for Android gets new design

The Google Maps app for Android gets a better design as well as new features. The updated app should be available to users over the next few weeks.

The new design is identical to the iPhone version, and features a Google Now-esque UI which Google showed off at its I/O event in May. New features include better navigation, and the ability to show live traffic updates, incident reports, and dynamic rerouting to users. The UI for tablets has also been reworked and looks very sleek.

Another new feature is called “Explore” which allows you to browse and discover popular local points of interest like restaurants, nightclubs, malls and hotels.

The app will be available to users on Android 4.0.3 and above over the next few weeks, although AndroidPolice has managed to get a few download links for the apk. Hit the link below to get the update.
