Toshiba launches Broadwell-based Satellite Z30-B-100 Ultrabook with 16-hour battery life

Toshiba has announced its latest Ultrabook offering – Satellite Z30-B-100, based on the latest Intel Broadwell Core i5 chipset. The main highlight of the Ultrabook is its 16-hour battery life, made possible with the increased power efficiency that the Broadwell chipset brings.

The Z30-B-100 features a metallic magnesium body with a matte black plastic keyboard. The Ultrabook features a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768. No option of a 1080p display is available, at least for now. However, the display does come with an anti-reflective coating.

Moving on to the hardware, the Ultrabook is powered by the Intel Broadwell Core i5 5200U CPU and comes with 8GB DDR3L 1600 RAM. It includes 256GB of SSD storage, with no lower or higher capacities available. That may change in the future though or on the specific market. The Ultrabook has been launched only in Europe so far where only a single configuration has been offered at launch.

The other impressive feature of the Ultrabook, at least on paper, is the inclusion of high-quality stereo speakers with DTS Studio Sound. It also comes with a wide range of connectivity options like HDMI out, 3 USB 3.0 ports, microSD card slot, and multi-card reader. For video chats, the Satellite Z30-B-100 includes a 2.0 megapixel webcam with support for Full HD video capture.

Toshiba has priced the Satellite Z30-B-100 at 1100 euros in the European market. Prices in the US should be slightly lower if and when it does launch there.
