Toshiba introduces new NVMe PCIe SSDs with up to 3.1 GB/s read speed

Toshiba has released three new NVMe PCIe solid state drive families for a wide range of products ranging from tablets to enterprise servers.

The XG3 line is Toshiba’s offering for notebooks in 2.5-inch and M.2 2280 form factors. These drives will be compatible with up to 4 PCIe 3.1 lanes for superior transfer speeds. The XG3 line SSDs will be available in capacities up to 1TB.

Next up is the BG1 line that will be offered in M.2 1620 and M.2 2230 form factors for consumer tablets and ultrabooks with razor-thin profiles. The maximum capacity offered will only be 256GB.

Finally, there is the PX04P series aimed at the enterprise market. The drives under this series come in 800GB, 1.6TB, and 3.2 TB storage capacities. These high-performance NVMe SSD drives are capable of maximum sequential read speeds up to 3.1GB/s and maximum sequential write speeds up to 2.35GB/s. Random read speeds are rated at 600K while random write speed is rated at 185K.
