The Z1 looks disappointingly similar to Samsung’s low-end Galaxy phones running Android.
With Samsung finally ready to launch a Tizen-powered smartphone in the consumer market, it’s not surprising that leaks about the device are coming out more and more often leading up to its launch. We’ve seen the Z1 in leaked pictures taken at a launch event earlier this week, and now more pictures have surfaced online to give us an even clearer look at Samsung’s first commercial Tizen phone.
Right off the bat, it’s easy to see that Samsung has opted for a design that’s very similar to the company’s budget phones in the Galaxy lineup of smartphones. Sadly, that means the Z1 isn’t at all attractive visually, though with a rumored $90 price tag, it’s likely most folks will not really care. The similar design will certainly help consumers not feel alienated, something Tizen’s UI similarities to Samsung’s Android skin TouchWiz will contribute to as well.
The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA (800×480) pixels display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM, 3-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, 4GB of expandable storage, and a 1,500mAh battery. Running Tizen 2.3, the Z1 is expected to launch in India sometime next month.
