The Clash of the Titans – Gigabyte G1.Assassin Reviewed

Targetted at gamers, the G1.Assassin Motherboard is an extremely popular product in the market. Today, the G1.Assassin Motherboard is put side by side with one of their competitors and we will find out just which of the two is better. Get ready for some cold-blooded action from the G1.Assassin as he shows us how it's done.

The G1 Killer, as the name suggests, is Gigabyte's first series of motherboard aimed solely at professional gamers. The G1 Killer comes in 3 flavours, namely the Assassin, Sniper and Guerrilla. +1 to Gigabyte for renaming the motherboards into something much cooler and easier to remember since generic naming styles such as "GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3" are a pain to say out.

Fighting through the late game, the G1.Assassin will be one tough guy to handle. With a large market tending towards the newer P67 platform, is there still space in the market for any new X58 motherboards? We all know that the X79 will be arriving in the 4th Quarter this year. Would you go for the newer and more efficient sandy bridge architecture or the current high end nahalem architecture? If you already have an affection towards the Sandy Bridge platform, the Assassin and other G1.Killer motherboards may change your mind.

The G1.Assassin is one huge motherboard in terms of size. It has a XL-ATX form factor which may not fit into most mid tower cases. So do make sure that your case fits the motherboard of size 345mm x 262mm before purchasing this product.
