Tech Makes Headway in Influential Brands’ Top Influential Brands Awards

Research and brand recognition platform Influential Brands had just held its 2017 CEO Asia Conference here in Singapore at the Capitol Theatre yesterday, 7th November. There they announced the ‘Top CEO of the Year’, ‘Top Influential Brands’, and ‘Outstanding Brands’ awards, amongst other awards.

Amongst the eminent brands recognised by Influential Brands Top Influential Brands awards that includes food firms, hospitality chains and educational institutions, the thriving technological sector in Asia was also recognised at the event.

Huawei ranked as the top Asian Mobile Phone manufacturer, and Canon demonstrated strong showing, ranking as the top Camera brand, at 16th overall. There was also an increased presence by online businesses: Grab, Lazada and Jobstreet.com made it on the list surrounded by other long-established brands.

Huawei, a mobile phone company based in China, has made incredible strides in the industry, taking over Ericsson in 2012 as the world’s largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer and surpassing Apple to become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Huawei’s recent launch of the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro demonstrated its technological edge, with features like the Kirin 970 AI processor promising industry-changing AI performance, sorting photos and adapting camera settings based on inbuilt image recognition, while optimising power management and maintaining processing and operating speeds even over time.

Canon’s dominance in the Camera segment was also boosted by constant innovation that put it ahead of competition. With the camera industry increasingly volatile with the success of mirrorless camera systems, Canon’s effective implementation of its DSLR technology into its new range of mirrorless Canon M bodies ensured industry-topping autofocus, processing speeds and an unparalleled range of Canon lenses to choose from.

Grab and Lazada are headquartered in Singapore, Jobstreet.com in Malaysia: all web-based services have since permeated the region, providing transport, retail and recruitment solutions respectively, and have since dominated each of their sectors.
