Synology has introduced a new NAS targeted at home users, the DiskStation DS216j.
The DS216j is perfectly suited for home media streaming, file sharing, and backup. It is powered by a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz with a floating-point unit (FPU), which helps speed up thumbnail generation. The NAS delivers 112.75 Mb/s read speeds and write speeds of 97.6 Mb/s.
The DS216j is a highly power efficient NAS with peak consumption of just 14.85W and 6.95W when hibernating. It comes with two drive bays with support for maximum single volume size of 16TB. Connectivity options include two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports and one RJ-45 1GbE LAN port.
