‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ RPG gets official Dec. 10 release date

SouthPark Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of Truth has enamored countless fans of the sharp and satirical comedy series ever since it was revealed some time ago. It was one of the many IP’s that was affected by THQ’s bankruptcy, which put our lovable scamps and their imaginary RPG adventure in a state of limbo–luckily Ubisoft swooped in and saved the day.

The game was indeed saved from the abyss of the cancelled game dimension, but there were still problems and setbacks that led to delay after delay, and many gamers had given up hope seeing any finite release date anytime soon.

Now the studio that brought us such triple-A blockbusters as the Assassin’s Creed series has etched a finalized launch date for The Stick of Truth, which is slated for a multi-platform release in December.

The game itself chronicles the made-up fantasy adventures of our colorful, foul-mouthed cast as they take part in epic quests and battles, all of which is wrapped in the gleeful veneer of childhood make-believe. Set as a traditional RPG experience, The Stick of Truth maintains certain turn-based mechanics with a variety of character roles, items, skills and more.

We’ll see the definitive grade of humor featured throughout gameplay, as Ubisoft is coordinating closely with Trey Parker and Matt Stone–who penned the entire script–and there will be a multitude of references and cameos from the show’s huge universe.

The cinematic sequences will be just like watching a lengthy episode of the show, with a variety of zany and hilarious moments that compliment the RPG sentiments quite nicely.

South Park: The Stick of Truth will be available on Dec. 10, 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For more information please visit the game’s official website.
