The good news comes straight from a company executive.
With Android 5.0 Lollipop, we’ve seen smartphone manufacturers growing past their previous habit of making consumers wait extremely long for an update, with Motorola, LG, and even Samsung having pushed out Lollipop to some of their devices in just a month or so after it was officially released by Samsung. Sony, however, hasn’t been so quick, but the company has now announced that it will start rolling out Android 5.0 to the Xperia Z3 lineup of devices starting next month.
The confirmation comes from COO of Sony Electronics, Michael Michael Fasulo, from the company’s press conference at CES 2015. An exact date wasn’t mentioned, but going by Sony’s past record, the update is likely to start rolling out to multiple devices at the same time, and also reach a slew of different regions in a short span of time. For those unaware, Sony has promised to bring Lollipop to its entire range of Xperia Z devices, including the original Xperia Z, though there’s no telling when these older phones and tablets will get their helping of the best version of Android.
