Barely a week before IFA 2015 kicks off, press images of the Sony Xperia Z5 have been leaked, confirming the upgraded 23MP rear camera.

Although we have seen a number of Xperia Z5 leaked images so far, it is the first time that the camera specs have been confirmed. Chinese sources had recently indicated that the Xperia Z5 will be equipped with a 23MP rear camera, so it turns out they were pretty accurate with the info.

The new sensor may boast of higher resolution, but retains the 1/2.3” size of the IMX220 sensor used on Xperia Z-series flagships right from the Z1 in 2013 to the Z3+ launched earlier this year. Apart from the sensor, the lens setup has been upgraded as well. It is now a six-element lens setup, similar to a number of other high-end flagship smartphones in the market.
