Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet details leak ahead of MWC

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z could soon get a considerably improved successor, details of which heave leaked online ahead of Mobile World Congress.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet details leak ahead of MWC 2014

According to notorious tipster @evleaks, the so-called “Xperia Z2 tablet” will pack serious power under the hood as is common with any premium device today, including a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU with four Krait 400 cores and 3GB of RAM, both of which are expected to make an appearance on the Xperia Z2 as well. Making it unique among the competition will be a waterproof body that’s only 6.4 mm thick – one would think the 6.9 mm build of the Xperia Tablet Z would be hard to trim down any further, but apparently that’s a challenge Sony accepted and managed to beat.

Other specs of the Xperia Z2 tablet will include a 10.1-inch 1920×1200 Triluminos display, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras, 16GB of storage expandable via microSD cards, a 6,000 mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s not exactly a huge upgrade over its predecessor, and it seems Sony was focusing on improving only in areas where the original fell behind the competition, which isn’t exactly a bad thing considering the leaked specs paint a very pretty picture for an Android tablet.

Sony has scheduled an event at MWC on February 24, and it’s where we might see the second-generation Xperia Tablet Z get announced, alongside the company’s first flagship smartphone of 2014.
