Sony Xperia X Premium with 1300nit HDR display rumored

Sony Xperia X Premium

After launching the world’s first 4K display smartphone last year, Sony is now rumored to launch the world’s first smartphone to feature an HDR display.

According to the folks over at PhoneRadar, the Xperia X Premium will feature a 5.5-inch Whitemagic LCD display with 1080 x 1920 resolution and maximum brightness of a whopping 1300 nits. The 10-bit HDR display will allegedly be capable of showing 1.07 billion colors, a significant jump from the 16.8 million colors rendered by the best smartphone displays currently. Other highlights of the display include a 120Hz native refresh rate and an impressive contrast ratio of 2000:1.

Apart from the HDR display, the Xperia X Premium is said to be identical to the Xperia X Performance in terms of the hardware. That does make sense though, as the Xperia Z5 Premium too is more or less identical to the regular Xperia Z5 in most areas.
