Sony has revealed the existence of the Playstation Vita TV, a gadget that allows you to play Vita games on your television.

Currently slated for release in Japan only, the ‘PS Vita TV’, as it’s called, will cost about 9480 yen ($100) and will be available on the 14th of November. A bundle SKU which includes a white wireless Dualshock 3 controller and an 8gb SD card will also be up for grabs for 14994 yen ($150). The device can play Playstation Vita games of course, but it also has a few more tricks up its sleeve. The small box will be able to access digital services such as Hulu, and it can also play PS4 games via remote play.

Sony mentioned that ‘PS Vita TV’ will be released in Japan “before other regions”, so it seems that the device may be coming to your part of the world as well. However, a firm release date was not given.

It’s worth mentioning here that the ‘PS Vita TV’ is not compatible with all Playstation Vita games. The compatibility list as it stands so far can be found here. Keep in mind though that this list could change as Sony patches in support for other titles, and the number of compatible games could also be radically different when the device launches in regions outside of Japan.

A breakdown of the technical specifications is available below.
