The PS4 is in Sony’s immediate future and it looks like E3 will be their time to shine.

With E3 only days away now, Sony has decided to ramp up their hype machine by announcing more than forty titles are to be shown for the PS3, PS4 and Playstation Vita at this year’s E3. An official Playstation blog entry posted today gave the looming figure as well as details for their upcoming livestream of their E3 announcement. The E3 broadcast will be streaming live from their official website and will be shown in nine different languages starting Monday at 5:30pm Pacific/8:30 Eastern.

On Tuesday, Sony hope to follow up the event with a three day extravaganza of their own PlayStation LiveCast. The show will start at midday on Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday and Thursday showcasing gameplay, demos and developer interviews from their upcoming titles.

The 40 PlayStation titles will be a combination of first-party and third-party games that have already been announced, including the new iterations in the Killzone, Infamous and Gran Turismo series. New IP’s such as DriveClub, Destiny, The Evil Within and Beyond: Two Souls will be featured and given complete coverage by Sony and hopefully the gaming press at large. Sony also hopes to bring attention to the Vita by streaming the entire thing through the Vita’s  Nico Nico video app and showing off new titles such as Killzone: Mercenary and Tearaway.

While I’m sure many of you are aware of the proverb, that it’s quality, not quantity, some of these games are going to look and hopefully play incredible. With Sony announcing new games daily for their upcoming console, they know what matters most to gamers of this and any other generation; the games. It’s also good to see Sony still support their handheld system, especially with it being apart of their next console’s strategy. The Vita, while not the most popular handheld, could see a resurgence if the PS4 is able to hit it out of the park on launch day.
