Sony announces Cyber-shot TX55 and WX30 compact digital cameras

Both the Cyber-shot TX55 and WX30 feature a 16.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and new ‘By Pixel Super Resolution’ technology that boosts zoom range to 10x without losing image quality.

Measuring 12.2mm slim, the Cyber-shot TX55 claims to be the world’s thinnest camera that can captures Full HD AVCHD video clips as well as 16.2 megapixel still images. It also shoots panoramas of 42.9-megapixel resolution, 3D Sweep Panorama and 3D Still Image to enjoy on your 3D TV. The camera’s back panel holds a 3.3-inch Xtra Fine OLED wide touchscreen which is great for showing off your photos and movies.

The TX55 is the first Cyber-shot camera to include a memory card slot that supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) and microSD/SDHC. The company has also offered a choice of ultra-compact, high quality media in capacities up to 16GB – the newly introduced Mark2 Memory Stick Micro which is ideal for AVCHD video shooting and microSDHC. The sleek and super-compact Sony Cyber-shot WX30 offers a wide range of imaging options for stills, Full HD video and 3D shooting. It also claims to be the first Cyber-shot WX series model to feature 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD wide touch screen for simple fingertip operation. It is compatible with the Party-shot IPT-DS2 docking base. Party-shot pans, tilts and zooms the camera as it searches for faces in the room, automatically shooting natural, beautifully-framed photos while you enjoy yourself.

The new compact and stylish Sony Cyber-shot TX55 and WX30 cameras, as well as the range of Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) and SR series MicroSD/SDHC media cards by Sony are available in Asia Pacific from September 2011.
