Snapdragon 800 phone with 4GB RAM, Android 4.3, and $295 price tag in the works?

Could we soon see an Android smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset and a dazzling 4GB of RAM? The answer would be yes, if leaked details of a Chinese handset are to believed.

SK Hynix RAM memory chip

All of the phones that are powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset today have 2GB of RAM inside like every other high-end phone, with Samsung expected to be the first to go higher with 3GB of RAM on the Galaxy Note III. But it seems like Chinese manufacturer Hasee is secretly preparing to leave even Samsung picking up the bread crumbs, with a phone that sports the Snapdragon 800 processor and a whopping 4GB of RAM.

The spec sheet of the unnamed phone has leaked in China, and it seems like even the Android version will be the latest when this monster launches (though with a custom UI named after the company). But then again, for a device that will flaunt double the RAM of what every top-of-the-line handset currently uses, we wouldn’t expect it to skimp in any aspect of the hardware.

The rest of the specs include a 5-inch 1080p display, 16/32GB storage, a 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a hefty 2,500mAh battery. Sadly, it looks like Hasee is going against the norm of making phones as lighter as possible – the weight of the device is listed as 195 grams, which could make it more of a burden than a joy to use.

However, if the leaked price of only $295 (without a contract) turns out to be right, how heavy the phone is will be the last thing on someone’s mind when picking one up. Well, unless it turns out that the 4GB of RAM was just a typo and there was nothing to get excited over in the first place.
