It may even be able to transcribe voicemails.
Siri can now do so much more than what it was originally capable of when the personal digital assistant arrived a few years back. Apple has gradually built up the features that Siri offers and according to a new report next year it might add one of the best features yet to Siri. Apple is reportedly going to make Siri capable enough to answer voice calls and even transcribe voicemail messages.
The new feature is reportedly called iCloud Voicemail and it will automatically answer the call using Siri when the user isn’t able to. The call won’t go through a standard digital audio recorder instead iCloud Voicemail is going to deliver custom messages about why the user can’t take the call to select callers.
If calls leave a message the feature will automatically transcribe it and then send the text to users, which means that users won’t even have to listen to their voicemails again. Siri already transcribes all of the commands that it gets from users so it won’t be difficult for it to transcribe incoming voicemails as well.
According to the report the iCloud Voicemail feature is being tested by multiple Apple employees, the company is expected to bring it to the iPhone next year presumably with iOS 10.
