Shopee today officially launched its super-sized Singapore headquarters at Science Park, with a capacity of a total of 3,000 staff, along with a plethora of holistic features for its staff.
Currently housing more than 1,000 employees, the Shopee regional HQ comes with big plans for expansion, riding on Singapore’s push toward a digital economy. This is especially remarkable considering humble beginnings with a team of 10 just four years ago.
Ranked the best e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, Shopee has performed exceptionally well in all seven markets in the region, also placing first for total time in-app as a function of active users and time spent in-app.
This, Shopee Chief Commercial Officer Zhou Junjie stresses, has been a function of Shopee’s commitment to localised experiences across countries with individualised apps, along with a focus on connectivity, collaboration and community.
Projects with brand partners like the Beauty Cam with cosmetics heavyweights Loreal, Maybelline and NYX allows users to experience a more immersive, personalised shopping experience.
Collaborative efforts like these are augmented with strong community building, whether it be live video engagements or with the Shopee University training programme for sellers.
The dedication to their three “C”s is best embodied in the design of the new Shopee HQ. With facilities and amenities like collaborative spaces, a cavernous cafeteria, nap pods, fun zones, a fitness zone and a marketing studio, the new headquarters has been shaped up to provide a holistic experience for Shopee’s staffers, who often have to work long hours during peak periods.
This is augmented by several welfare-oriented staff perks, like a massage service room with dedicated masseuses, weekly breakfasts on the house, and an order-in programme for dinners for demanding projects and deadlines.
With an average age of under 30, Shopee is looking for more data scientists and software engineers to be part of its vibrant and growing community, a key part of Singapore’s goal to be a tech hub.
Part of the festivities revolved around the ongoing 9.9 promotion, which is shaping up to be Shopee’s biggest and will culminate next Monday on the 9th of September.
