Japanese manufacturer Scythe has released its newest CPU cooler, dubbed Byakko. The tower-design CPU cooler is a compact solution with a height of just 130mm, making it a great choice for gamers who own a smaller case. To achieve great compatibility, Scythe has gone with an asymmetric alignment of the base-plate and heatsink. The design allows you to install the CPU cooler in pretty much any case out there and also offers support for tall memory modules and VRM heatsinks. In terms of dimensions, the cooler measures 102 x 130 x 84mm (W x H x D).
Three high-quality copper heatpipes with 6 millimeter diameter connect the solid copper base-plate and the aluminum fins-stack heatsink. The copper heatpipes as well as the copper baseplate are nickel-plated in the final process, which helps avoid corrosion and also ensure greater durability.
The cooler comes equipped with a Scythe Slip Stream 92 PWM fan, which offers a wide speed range for various loads. When under low load, the fans can spin at ultra-silent 300 RPM and go up to 2,300 RPM for maximum performance. The speed range delivers steady airflow from 11,38 to 79,09 m³/h, respectively 6,70 to 46,55 CFM.
The Scythe Byakko is compatible with all the popular Intel sockets such as LGA775, LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366 as well as AMD sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2, and FM2+. All the clips that you would require for secure mounting, as well as a package of thermal grease comes included in the box.
Currently, the Scythe Byakko SCBYK-1000 CPU cooler is on sale in European markets for a price tag of 20.50 EUR. No details yet on pricing or availability outside of Europe.
