Samsung UltraTouch S8300

You can access the phone camera function from the main menu or press and hold the camera shutter button for two seconds. The phone will prompt you to slide up the display to use the camera, if you haven’t, and will automatically changed to landscape orientation.

The camera options include camera, scene or camcorder modes, shooting modes (single, continuous, panorama, smile shot, mosaic and frames), flash, exposure, playback and settings – focus, timer, resolution, white balance, effects, ISO, exposuremeter, anti-shake, WDR, blink detection, image quality, as well as contrast, saturation and sharpness adjustments.

Both the day and night shots looked sharp with accurate colours, though for the night shot, the S8300 will perform better in a well-lit environment. The built-in LED flash helped little when the surrounding is too dim-lit. The images are saved in JPEG format at 3264×2488 pixel resolution and have a file size of approximately 2MB each.

Conclusion

Compared to other slider phones, the Samsung UltraTouch S8300 stands out from the rest with its good-looking brushed metal frame. Moreover, this slider phone has a touchscreen display that allows you to navigate and access your applications easily with your finger.

While the S8300 offers the features including camera/video capture function, Bluetooth, photo viewer, video and music player, as well as GPS, the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity may put some potential buyers off. (Well, unless you already have a HSDPA data sim card).

At SGD838 (without contract). the Samsung UltraTouch S8300 is a little pricey unless you are renewing your phone contract. But if you want a chic slider phone with touchscreen display, good features and can take good photos, the S8300 should not disappoint.
