Samsung to bring in Windows 8 tablet and notebook next year

Samsung will be releasing new Windows 8 mobile computers which target working professionals next year. The products will spearhead the change of various devices that rely on Windows as their platform instead of Android.

Samsung revealed in an interview that they will soon unveil a few products which will integrate Windows 8 as its primary platform. The first amongst them will be released in the later half of 2012, in time with Microsoft’s release of the OS itself. This adds to an already exciting series of launches for Windows-powered devices by various manufacturers, marking a new wave of adoption for an alternative platform to Google’s Android.

This comes as no surprise since Samsung had already showed off a Series 7 Slate with a functional version of Windows 8 at the BUILD conference. The hardware displayed at the conference included the Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 11.6-inch screen of 1366 by 768 pixels resolution, and could be the reference setup for future products.

Samsung will likely target corporate clients first, in a bid to fend off Apple’s efforts in that segment, as well as other Android tablet manufacturers.

The priority of the tech giant lies with updating the Series 7 with Windows 8 when the OS is released, so corporate customers and consumers who own them can be assured of Samsung’s commitments.
