Succeeding the hugely successful 850 series SSDs released in 2014, Samsung 860 Pro and 860 EVO SSDs offer enhancements over their predecessors in terms of speed, capacity, and compatibility.
Both PRO and EVO lines will have a new addition, and as before, the 860 PRO is the premium version offering faster speeds while the 860 EVO, with a slightly lower performance and endurance, targets more budget-conscious consumers. Notable features in both models include an updated NAND flash memory to 64-layer 3D NAND, the use of LPDDR4 DRAM, and a shift to the newest MJX controller.
The 860 PRO offers read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 530 MB/s respectively and is available in a 2.5-in form factor in capacities of 256 GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.
The 860 EVO offers read and write speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 520 MB/s respectively, and is available in a 2.5-in form factor in capacities of 250 GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB, or up to 2TB in a M.2 form factor, or up to 1TB in a mSATA form factor.
