Samsung today unveiled its new Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches, a day before the IFA trade show opens.
The new Gear S2 smartwatch features a circular design with a unique rotating bezel. It also gets home and back buttons for a quicker access to all your notifications and apps. In terms of the hardware, the Gear S2 packs a 1.7” circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 resolution, a dual-core 1.0 GHz CPU, 4GB internal memory, 512MB RAM, IP68 dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, heart rate sensor, barometer, and a 250mAh Li-ion battery. It runs on the Tizen platform, just like its predecessor. Samsung will also offer a 3G enabled variant of the Gear S2.
The Gear Classic offers the same hardware and feature-set as the Gear S2, but comes in a more traditional watch design in an elegant Black finish with a genuine leather band. Both models reportedly offer impressive battery life, up to 2-3 days according to Samsung.
Pricing and availability details are likely to be revealed in the next few days.
