While a number of recent reports have hinted at an April announcement for the Galaxy S8, smartphone leakster @Ricciolo1 today claimed that Samsung will be holding the Galaxy S8 announcement event in multiple cities across US and EU on March 29th.
Before the official announcement on March 29th, the leakster says Samsung will be showing off the Galaxy S8 to partners and investors behind closed doors at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona next month. The announcement is said to be followed by a “record breaking marketing campaign”, which does sound believable given how important it is for Samsung to ensure that the Galaxy S8 is a commercial success. It also needs to regain the trust of consumers who had to return their Galaxy Note 7 units due to the battery issues plaguing the handset. The leakster also added that the Galaxy S8 will be priced at $849 for the base version, which is a sharp increase compared to the Galaxy S7’s launch price.
Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to feature a “bezel-less” design on the front with a Quad HD resolution Super AMOLED display, soft keys with 3D Touch-like functionality, and an optical fingerprint scanner embedded inside the display glass. As far as the internals go, the flagship smartphone is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC, 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of built-in storage, and updated connectivity features.
