The miniaturized Galaxy S6 is rumored to be launching in August.
The Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+ and a round smartwatch are all rumored to be stars of Samsung’s next major Unpacked event, but it seems there’s another device the Korean manufacturer is set to release soon. The Galaxy S6 Mini has been strangely absent from the rumor mills despite Samsung’s penchant for launching mini versions of its flagships in recent years, and it’s only fitting that the first real leak is a big one, showing the phone in all its glory.
The images suggest the Galaxy S6 Mini will have a screen size hovering somewhere around 4.7 inches. The design looks similar to the Galaxy S6’s, but it’s pretty much a guarantee that the glass and metal of the S6 will be replaced by plastic on both the front and back. The leak isn’t accompanied by any details on the mini S6’s hardware, though we’re sure to see a considerable downgrade in most aspects. That’s not to say the S6 Mini will be as handicapped as its predecessors, as Samsung has certainly been moving towards offering better hardware at lower prices this year.
As for a launch date, the Galaxy S6 Mini is said to be slated for an unveil in August, though we will probably see Samsung make a quiet announcement ahead of the August 12-13 event for the Galaxy Note 5.
