Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition goes official with 2560×1600 display

The not-so-best-selling Galaxy Note 10.1 has been given a major upgrade with a 2014 Edition, announced by Samsung at the IFA along with the Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition has been upgraded in almost every aspect. The display now sports a resolution of 2560 x 1600, similar to the Nexus 10, making it the highest resolution display on a Samsung tablet that runs the manufacturer’s customized version of Android. Powering that mighty display is an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.9GHz, and 3GB of RAM, both of which will be seen on the Galaxy Note III as well.

Another trait the new Note 10.1 shares with the third-generation Note is the back casing, which is made up of faux-leather instead of the oft-loathed plastic that Samsung has traditionally used in the past. There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the back (for those times you really have to take a picture with a 10.1-inch tablet), a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and 16, 32, and 64GB built-in storage expandable via a microSD slot.

The tablet runs on the latest version of Android, and will sport all the new features (Multi-Window, Air Command, and the like) that will debut on the Galaxy Note III, along with an S Pen stylus that now has improved sensitivity. It will be made available in Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE variants, with a launch in 149 countries on September 25th, with an unannounced price tag.
