Samsung to debut new wireless earbuds along with the Galaxy S8 next year

An exclusive report published by SamMobile claims Samsung is going to be announcing a new wireless in-ear headphone along with the Galaxy S8 in April next year. Unfortunately, it is not clear at this point if the new headset will be bundled along with the Galaxy S8 or if it will be sold separately.

The new wireless in-ear headphones will apparently take on Apple’s AirPods, which the Cupertino-based firm announced alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus earlier this year. There is a possibility that the new wireless headphones could feature some technology from Harman, which was acquired by Samsung recently.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be the company’s first flagship handset to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in favor of the newer USB Type-C port, so it does make sense for Samsung to push wireless audio with the smartphone. You don’t have to worry too much though, Samsung will most definitely include a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter in the box, so you will be able to use your current headphones with it. There is even a possibility that the Galaxy S8 might feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, as SamMobile reports that Samsung does have multiple prototypes of the smartphone currently, and some of them do have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 at a dedicated event in April in New York next year. The delay is attributed to stricter product testing norms that have been enforced after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
