Samsung announces Series 5 ULTRA notebooks and Series 7 Smart Station Monitors

Today, Samsung Asia introduced their new Series 5 ULTRA notebooks, which come in 13- and 14-inch sizes, and are the company's latest Ultrabooks. On top of that, the Korean electronics manufacturer also announced Series 7 Smart Station monitors, ML-2165 monochrome laser printers and SCX-3400 series multi-function laser printers

The Samsung Series 5 ULTRA notebooks are the company's first Ultrabooks that are not just thin and light, but claims to pack superb computing performance. Available in 13- and 14-inch, both are powered by second generation Intel Core i5-2467M processor, up to 8GB memory and boasts fast boot of just 20 seconds and wake up in two seconds. The Series 5 ULTRA also offers up to 6.4 hours of battery life on a single charge, and with Samsung Battery Life Plus, it keeps 80 percent of the cell's original capacity in three years (or life cycle of up to 1,500 charging cycles).

Measuring 20.9mm slim and weighing 1.84kg, the 14-inch model offers up to 1TB storage and features AMD Radeon HD7550M graphics card with 1GB VRAM and integrated optical disc drive. It also comes with full-size HDMI, VGA, two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, 4-in-1 multi SD card slot, Ethernet and webcam. The Series 5 ULTRA 13-inch measures 14mm at its thinnest point and is extremely lightweight at 1.43kg. It doesn't have the AMR Radeon graphics card or built-in optical drive and has a smaller 500GB storage. But for connectivity, the Samsung offers full-size HDMI, one USB3.0, two USB2.0, 4-in-1 multi SD card slot, Ethernet and webcam. Both the 13- and 14-inch are equipped with Samsung superior LCD technology with 300 nits high definition LED SuperBright display, Image Enhancer technology and anti-reflective screen.

According to Samsung, the Series 5 ULTRA will not come with SSD and Core i7 processors at launch, although it is likely the company will bring in the options in future. Both models will be available in early February at S$1,298 (13-inch) and S$1,598 (14-inch).
