Rumor mongers confirm iPhone launch date of September 20th

Contrary to earlier claims indicating a launch date of October 25th, it has now been revealed that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be available from September 20th.

Apple is holding an event on September 10th, where it will launch the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S is the yearly upgrade to the iPhone 5, while the iPhone 5C is an entirely new device that is made out of plastic and one that will be targeted at emerging countries. Information from inside sources now indicates that both devices will allegedly go on sale September 20th.

The same sources mentioned earlier that the devices will be available from October 25th; however, it looks like that will be when the next-generation iPad 5 and the new iPad Mini launch. Considering that Apple is set to unveil the devices September 10th, it does make sense that the launch date follows ten days after, as Apple follows a predictable announcement cycle. Until now, it has launched all iPhones more than one week after and less than two weeks from the official announcement. It also has an inclination to launch its devices on a Friday, as this gives users an entire weekend to see the device for themselves in a retail location before buying it.

As such, the only Friday that fits the criteria is September 20th. Another variable to factor in at this stage is iOS 7. While the beta version is currently at seven, Apple has to iron out any final bugs that are still existent and launch a final build, which is likely to be around September 16th.

Here are the revised dates for the announcements and the launches:

  • September 10th: Announcement of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
  • September 16th: Release of iOS 7 (probably).
  • September 20th: Circulation of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
  • End of October: Release of the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2.
