According to new reports, Huawei might be working on its own mobile operating system, allegedly named ‘Kirin’ OS.
Chinese website MyDrivers has released some new info on the Huawei Nexus smartphone today, in which it also mentions Huawei is currently working on its independent mobile operating system, with an aim to reduce its dependence on Google’s Android mobile operating system.
Huawei has been making its own custom Kirin mobile chipsets for its high-end smartphones since a while now, so it doesn’t sound very surprising that the manufacturer would be interested in coming with a new mobile OS of its own.
As for the Huawei Nexus smartphone, the report claims the device will be based on the upcoming Ascend Mate 8 smartphone and will boast of a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution. The body of the smartphone will be made using a combination of metal and glass, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Duo and Sony Xperia Z series flagships.
