Purported images of Apple iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 leaked

With the iPhone 5s and 5c official, everyone is now looking forward to the next wave of iPads. Both the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 have been seen in leaked images before, and now a couple of images comparing the two have hit the web.

The latest images come from Sonny Dickson – a site that has leaked real pictures of upcoming devices numerous times in the past – and show off the back and sides of the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. The images show both devices sporting the same design, with an aluminium finish on the back and a prominent Apple logo in the center. There’s no guarantee the pictures we’re seeing are legit, but perhaps it’s a guarantee we don’t need, considering how poor a job Apple did at keeping its two new iPhones under wraps.

You can notice that the iPad 5’s speaker grills have been shifted entirely to the bottom, which should reduce the chances of muffled sound, a problem I often face with the iPad 4. The standard black buttons for volume and lock control are present, and when compared side-by-side and also when stacked on top of each other, we’re looking at tablets that are completely identical except in size.

Apple hasn’t said anything about the new iPads yet, but an official announcement should rear its face before this eventful year comes to an end. Check out the full gallery of pics below, and let us know what you think.
