PS Plus subscribers get ‘Borderlands 2’ for free

Sony has revealed that Gearbox’s chaotic yesteryear best-seller Borderlands 2 will be available free for PS Plus members as part of the Instant Game Collection.

PS Plus

In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that one of 2012’s most acclaimed co-op loot-and-shoot PS3 games is coming to PS Plus’ library of free digital games.

Although many gamers already own Borderlands 2, the inclusion gives players the chance to delve into the distinct raw and hilarious style offered by the franchise–all in an expansive and action-packed online co-op experience. This addition is a bonus as Sony is already offering Guacamelee! and GRiD 2.

While a lot of PS4 owners have a PS3 to take advantage of PS Plus titles, gamers who crossed over from Xbox 360 may feel left out of these deals. Seeing a plethora of content being given away to PlayStation 3 owners when you’ve just picked up Sony’s new high-profile console is frustrating, especially since no new free PS4 content has been added for PS Plus members in December–we are still stuck with Contrast and Resogun.

Both of those PS4 games are pretty nice to be sure, and we can bide our time with free-to-play titles like Warframe, DC Universe Online, and Blacklight Retribution, but many feel that PS4 owners should get more perks.

PS Plus access

It’ll be a while before Gaikai rolls out (sometime in 2014), but once it does, users should be able to get PS3 games onto their PS4 with the service–a concept which hopefully will bridge the “unfairness gap” that many current PS4 owners feel.

In addition to the new Instant Game Collection offering, Sony has shown off the current discounts available in week 2 of their PlayStation Store Holiday Sale. Slashed titles include Dragon’s Crown for both PS3 and PS Vita, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2Spelunky, Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and more:
