Possible evidence of PS4 & PC version found in leaked GTA V code?

There may be hope yet for gamers who are hoping for both a PC and next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V.

According to recent reports on Reddit, hackers and modders who dissected and scoured the GTA V‘s code have found purported evidence that suggests that Rockstar plans to bring the mega-hit onto each respective platform.

Modders attained the code when the Xbox 360 version of GTA V was leaked onto the net via torrents, and since then the gaming sphere is awash with leaked content like in-game photos, footage, and other potentially spoiling info.

The evidence itself is contained in a supposed genuine XML file that’s since been posted on PasteBin for all to see, however the document’s legitimacy is called into question as it’s fairly easy to alter files on the site.

Examining the info sheet gleans some interesting info to be sure: there are instances that list config specifications for various platforms like current-gen Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as PC and Orbis–which is the PS4 dev kit’s operating system.

Although the reports must remain speculation and be chalked up to rumor at this point, it is an interesting prospect that adds more acclaim to the prospect of GTA V spreading past the realm of current-gen console gaming.

Rockstar will almost assuredly release the game onto PC a sometime after the title’s console release, however a next-gen launch may be an iffy proposition–unless these files are genuine.

Additionally we’ve seen various European online retailers like Amazon Germany accidentally post listings of PC and PS4 versions, as well as a PS4 sighting over at Amazon France.

Sony’s famous type-o Tweet also reinforces the speculation, although it may have been an honest mistake–3 is right next to the 4 key, after all.

It will be interesting to see if Rockstar responds to this in the future–but in all likelihood the studio will be too busy readying GTA Online for its October launch to comment (or possibly developing a PC/PS4 version?).
