‘Pokemon Omega Ruby’ and ‘Alpha Sapphire’ announced for Nintendo handhelds

A new set of Pokemon games have been revealed for a 2014 launch across Nintendo’s 3DS and 2DS handhelds.

With the announcement of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, pocket-monster fans worldwide rejoice in sheer anticipation as the beloved Game Boy Advance release enters the modern age.

The news broke on the official Pokemon website, featuring a reveal trailer that shows off cover art for both of the games while giving a glimpse of each title’s flagship Pokemon. Aside from the trailer (see below), details remain scarce, but below we’ve included a brief description offered by the developers of the upcoming re-makes:

“Announcing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokémon!

“Pokémon fans first enjoyed Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version when it launched in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. Now, a whole new generation of Pokémon fans will experience the dramatic storyline that unfolds in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.”
