Plextor has announced that its new EX1 portable solid state drive will now be backed by a 5-year warranty instead of 3 years as announced earlier. The EX1 is the company’s latest portable SSD drive that comes equipped with the latest USB Type-C connector and supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 standards to deliver unparalleled transfer speeds. The change applies to all EX1 units sold to consumers as well as unsold inventory with the retailers.
While most USB 3.0 Flash drives can achieve maximum read speeds of up to 300 MB/s, the Plextor EX1 achieves maximum sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s. Similarly, while USB 3.0 flash drives can hit maximum write speeds of up to 200 MB/s, the EX1 is capable of achieving maximum sequential write speeds of up to 500 MB/s.
It also happens to be the most lightweight mobile solution around, weighing in at a mere 30 grams. The EX1 is shock-resistant as well, and does not suffer from any issues such as vibration or heating associated with portable hard disk drives. USB OTG support ensures users can use the EX1 with not just their desktops and notebooks, but also on their Android smartphones or tablets.
The Plextor EX1 portable solid state drive is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. It comes with a choice of two color options – Gold and Silver.
