Graphics card maker Palit has announced its entry into the global SSD market with the introduction of new UVS and GFS series solid state drives.
The Palit UVS series solid state drivers come in the popular 2.5-inch form factor, utilizing the SATA III interface. Aimed at users upgrading from a traditional hard disk drive, the UVS series is available in 120GB, 256GB, 480GB, and 512GB capacities. In terms of performance, the 512GB drive is claimed to achieve maximum sequential read speeds of up to 525 MB/s and maximum sequential write speeds of up to 465 MB/s. All models, with the exception of the 120GB, use 3D TLC NAND flash.
The GFS series on the other hand is targeted mainly at gamers and uses high quality 3D MLC NAND flash memory chips for higher performance as well as greater reliability. It comes in three capacities – 120GB, 128GB, and 240GB. The 240GB drive is claimed to deliver maximum sequential read speeds of 560 MB/s and write speeds of up to 480 MB/s.
Both the UVS and GFS series drive offer LDPC ECC correction, static and dynamic wear-leveling, TRIM support, and lower power consumption when compared to traditional HDDs. They also come backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
The company hasn’t revealed pricing just yet, but we do expect these new drives to go on sale before the end of next month in most markets.
