Oppo R7 shows up on retailer website ahead of official announcement

JD.com is taking pre-orders for the device but isn’t revealing official pricing.

Oppo’s upcoming phones, the R7 and R7 Plus, have leaked a few times in the past couple of weeks, and the R7 has now been listed on Chinese retailer JD’s website ahead of its rumored May 20th announcement. The device has been priced at $483, but the retailer has said that the pricing isn’t final and is expected to change after the official unveiling.

The R7 (or the R7 Plus) isn’t a flagship smartphone, so it’s not surprising Oppo isn’t working too hard on keeping them a secret. The R7 is expected to feature a 5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, 16GB of internal storage, and a 2,320mAh battery. These specs will put it in competition with devices like the HTC Desire 820 and the recently unveiled Xiaomi Mi4i, though Oppo’s usually excellent design chops should give it a differentiating factor for attracting consumers.
