After revealing that the OnePlus 2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset last week, OnePlus has today announced that the OnePlus 2 will include a USB Type-C port.
In order to create greater buzz for the OnePlus 2, the company has decided to reveal all the major highlights of the smartphone piece by piece until the device is officially announced. Today’s info is definitely a lot more impressive than last week’s. Although USB Type-C has been seen on notebooks such as Apple’s new MacBook, we haven’t really seen any smartphone with a USB Type-C port. Since the OnePlus 2 is expected to be announced by Q3, there are chances that it could be the first smartphone in the market with a USB Type-C port.
A USB Type-C port on the smartphone will not only allow it to boast of much faster transfer speeds, it will also allow the OnePlus 2 to charge much quicker than devices with microUSB 2.0/3.0. Then there’s the advantage of not having to worry about plugging in the wrong end of the cable as there won’t be any ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ ways to plug in the cable with the USB Type-C port.
