According to a new rumor out of China, OnePlus could announce the rumored OnePlus 3T at an event in London on November 14th.
The OnePlus 3T is expected to be identical to the OnePlus 3 in most areas, but there will be a few notable improvements. Perhaps the biggest change will be the upgrade to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chipset from the Snapdragon 820 chip inside the OnePlus 3. While the Snapdragon 821 isn’t a major upgrade over the Snapdragon 820, it does offer marginal performance gains and higher benchmark scores in almost all CPU as well as GPU-intensive benchmarks. Apart from the Snapdragon 821 chipset, the OnePlus 3T could also be equipped with a larger 3300mAh capacity battery. The OnePlus 3 isn’t the best smartphone out there in terms of battery life, so we’re definitely hopeful that the rumor regarding the larger battery does pan out. The OnePlus 3T is expected to be available in two memory variants – 64GB and 128GB. Like the OnePlus 3, both the variants will be equipped with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
Early rumors had suggested the OnePlus 3T (then referred to as the OnePlus 3 Plus) would come with an LCD display, but OnePlus CEO Carl Pei shot down those reports, saying the company plans to continue using AMOLED panels on its future flagships. So we expect the OnePlus 3T to feature the same 5.5-inch 1080p Optic AMOLED display, Dash Charge, USB Type-C port, 16MP rear camera, and 8MP selfie camera as the OnePlus 3. On the software front however, the new model is said to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Previous rumors have hinted at a price tag of around $480, which is slightly higher than the launch price of the OnePlus 3.
