Nokia Lumia 1520 makes explosive rumor mill comeback, complete with new pics and full specs

With Nokia’s highly anticipated October 22 press event looming larger and larger on the horizon, we all got caught up of late in trying to guess the exact line-up of new products to be unveiled and kind of forgot about the big picture.

Nokia Lumia 1520

Very few people care about modest Asha devices, probably even fewer about a Lumia 2520 tab running on Windows RT, whereas the Lumia 1320 “Batman” certainly sounds exciting, but in a nutshell is more of the same.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 1520 is set to be the shiniest star, the groundbreaker, the pioneer, the first Windows Phone to go all-in on every piece of hardware, not just camera technology. So let’s forget about Ashas, caped crusaders and Win RT-powered slates and turn our undivided attention back to the “Bandit”.

Nokia Lumia 1520-2

A “Bandit” that’s strutting around in all its gigantic beauty in front of the camera again, with the cherry on top of the rumor bonanza being a full spec sheet leaked to the press by Nokia Power User.

Granted, there’s not a lot of new info in there, but there are a couple of nuggets that either never came up or weren’t properly detailed so far, so here it all goes:

  • 6-inch Full HD AMOLED Display with Pure Motion HD+
  • 2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 32/64 GB on-board storage, microSD support
  • 20.7 MP rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics, improved Panorama and OIS
  • Dual-capture mode: 5 MP, 16 MP snapshots
  • 1.8X lossless zoom for stills, 4X for 720p video recording
  • 3,400 mAh battery
  • Wireless charging (only in global version)
  • 4 HAAC microphones
  • 4G LTE
  • 152 x 81 x 8.7 mm dimensions
  • 176 grams weight in AT&T flavor, 185 grams globally
  • Nano SIM card
  • Black, white, yellow color options

Nokia Lumia 1520-3

Sounds like a real trailblazer to me, especially since the rumors about it costing $299 with AT&T pacts and $699 outright are getting traction. Remember, the formal intro is to go down a week from now, with Ma Bell set to receive stocks as soon as mid-November. Internationally, it might take the Lumia 1520 a while to see daylight, but you should still see it up on store shelves in time for Christmas. Huzzah!
