Nokia Lumia 1520 launch pushed to 22nd October, passes China’s FCC

Recently, the notorious Twitter leaker @evleaks tweeted that the launch date of the Nokia Lumia 1520 has been pushed back to October 22.  Shortly after, another image of the Windows Phone 8 handset on Chinese store shelves emerged.

Lumia 1520

Let’s start with the launch date before taking a look at the leaked images. Earlier this week, @evleaks mentioned Nokia will officially take the wraps of its 6-inch phablet on September 26th. Now, citing several sources, he mentions the launch date of the alleged Nokia Lumia 1520 Bandit is pushed back, and it will see the daylight on 22nd October, instead of this month.

The folks at WPCentral mentioned on Friday that Lumia 1520 is heading to AT&T in November, which kind of makes sense. It would make sense for Nokia to unveil the phablet in late-October so that they can get some time before the actual availability date in November. If you remember, a similar trend was followed by the Finnish maker in case of Lumia 1020.

Earlier this morning, a few images of purported Nokia Lumia 1520 also emerged on the internet from China. According to this new rumor, the 6-inch phablet is being tested by China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center – China’s FCC.

The leaked image doesn’t bring anything new that we don’t know about the phablet. It is going to be the first Windows Phone 8 device that will feature a massive 6-inch display, Snapdragon 800 chipset, 1080p display, 32GB internal storage with a  microSD card slot and best of all, it will come with Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update out of the box. The device is also expected to feature a massive 3,400 mAh battery.

On the rear, Nokia 1520 is expected to feature a 20MP camera with PureView Technology and Carl Zeiss, with dual-shot capabilities to capture shots at 16MP + 5MP simultaneously.
