No Android Marshmallow for Galaxy Note 3 & Galaxy S4, reveals Samsung update roadmap

Samsung Marshmallow

An updated Samsung Marshmallow update guide has been leaked on the web, with some new devices popping up on the list.

The leaked list confirms that the Galaxy Note 5 will be the first Samsung smartphone to be updated to Android 6.0, with the update rollout expected to begin next month. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S6 Edge will be updated to Android 6.0 starting January 2016. The following month will see the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge getting updated to the latest version of Android. In April, the Galaxy Alpha is expected to receive the update. In the first phase, the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7” and the Galaxy Tab S2 8” are also expected to receive their Marshmallow update, although the update is currently awaiting approval and no ETA has been provided.

Android 6.0 Roadmap

Moving on to Phase 2, the rollout will start off with the Galaxy A8 in March. The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Android 6.0 update is expected to begin in April 2016. Other smartphones listed under “Phase 2” include the Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy E7, Galaxy E5, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J2, and the Galaxy Tab S 8.4”.

In Phase 3, only two devices are likely to be updated to the latest Android version – Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and the Galaxy Tab A 8. The Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 update has unfortunately not been approved, which means support for these devices will end with Android Lollipop.
